Sno*Drift Rally

The Sno*Drift rally is a cool event. It is the first rally event event of the Rally America National Championship series held in Montmorency County, Michigan. It is the only event that is scheduled in winter, as such, these cars are up for a good challenge.  You'll see that only the best cars and drivers can win.

Although this is the 2012 event, this video shows some good highlights. Now I wanted an Evo X win, but second's not bad. These rally cars are really awesome, especially when they're put it treacherous environments. To find out more, hit up the source link.  You can also check out more clips after the jump.

Windows Phone Limitation Hurts A Great Device

So, it's a fact Nokia makes some great camera phones.  Their Pureview phones are great examples of the best you can get in phones.  Unfortunately, their partnership with Microsoft's WP8 hampers a great phone.

Just watch the video and you will find out that the Lumia 1020 has a decently long interval between taking new shots.  Most current phones have zero shutter lag, in this day and age 3.5 seconds between shots is unacceptable.  This is ultimately limited by the processor, which as of this writing is limited to the old dual-core Snapdragons chips of yore.  If this had been an Android phone, Nokia could have gone with a beefier processor that would've handled this like a champ.

Most people may sit this one out and wait for the next iteration.  I'll just continue to wait for a decent camera to debut on an Android phone.

Note 3 Has Arrived!

 Galxy Note3
The wait is over. So, was it worth it? The Note 3 has a 1080p 5.7 inch display, larger 3,200 mAh battery, 3 GB RAM, 32/64 GB Storage, 13 Megapixel camera, UHD (4K) video capture, Stereo FM radio ??? (maybe...it only states that at the source, but this is usually removed from the US variants), Snapdragon 800 Quadcore CPU/ Exynos Octa-core, host of new S-Pen features, IR sensor, USB 3.0 (I saw this stated somewhere, but is of now unconfirmed), and a pleather back cover (it's plastic, but at least it's not so slippery).

It hits US shores September 25th.  The software additions are now more useful. Samsung seemed to realize people like the ability to multitask on a big screen. Read on to find out more about the software that really stood out.

Moto X Made In America

http://www.att.com/att/moto-x/img/section2_bg.jpg
...actually assembled in America is more like it. And priced for failure. There is absolutely no reason to choose this over the Galaxy S4 or HTC One. Those phones beat this one in every regard.
I'm hard pressed to believe their new processor will bring "incredible" battery life. It definitely won't beat the S4 on battery life. The back cover customization is also mute because the S4 can already be customized. The Active Display is neat, but ultimately not enough to warrant a purchase or even recommendation.

Tesla Model S Battery Swap

I know this is old, but just in case you missed it Tesla demonstrated a quick way to get the juice you need to continue on your epic journeys- to work of course...

It's a pretty quick battery swap, just remember to come back for your original battery. Less, you get hit with some surprising costs later.

Take Note

September 4th Samsung will reveal the Note III and all the details. Bigger screen, faster processor (maybe the octo-core), and bigger battery. Maybe they have some surprises up their sleeves. This will be some decent improvements to an already great phone.

The phone is expected to ship the same month.

Why I Can't Switch to iOS

There are some people that own and love their iPhones and iPads (this I understand, since no other tablet can match the simple experience and vast amount of apps) who just can't figure out why someone would choose a Droid over the elegant and sleek iPhone.

The iPhone has arguably the best hardware (if you disregard the HTC One) , the smoothest homescreen (it's smooth as butter), variety of accessories, longest web browsing battery life, and a bucket load of apps.  Wait...why doesn't everyone have an iPhone again??? Well one problem with iPhones is if you live in Apple's world, you must play by their rules and that limits how you can use your device.

The only way to escape those limitatioms is jumping aboard either of 3 other systems - Android, WP8, or Blackberry OS.  Right now I'll only discuss the Android advantages, since I'm rocking the lovely Samsung Galaxy Note II (the most satisfying phone I've had yet).  Follow on for the breakdown on why I can't switch.  You might learn something!

Maxx for All Please

Dear Motorola,

Please release your Razr Maxx line of phones for all carriers.  Take some notes from Samsung (get it Note!).  Your profits will thank you.

Sincerely,

All Phone Carriers (except Verizon)

I don't know if there is an exclusivity agreement but it sucks that only Verizon customers can use these well built long lasting phones.

99 Problems...for Real

Funny take on Jay-Z's popular song. Considering him and his wife are worth over $1 Billion, he must have many serious problems.

Evo X Rallying

You may not know the Evo, if you don't just check out the first 2 Fast and Furious movies, but beside being a quick street car, it is great off road. Here's a video highlighting the offroad beast.  Also, this one has a nice anti-lag system on it.

Find out what happens when a Mom drives a tuned 900hp version.

Note 3 Rumors Stir

Samsung should be making an announcement about the Note 3 on September 4th. Many people await the arrival of the sequel to, arguably Samsung's best phone, the Galaxy Note II. There are benchmarks floating around to sate the appetite.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 posts an impressive AnTuTu score

The Galaxy S4 has some notable improvements over the Note II, full HD screen, glove compatible screen, upgraded camera lens, new software tricks (mostly useless, the stylus accomplishes most of the new air gestures), and a handy IR sensor (you know for changing the channel when you're stuck in a waiting room for over half an hour).

The Note III will have all of those features plus a larger screen, a bigger battery, and an indispensable stylus. The screen will be larger than the current Note II's and will be in HD.  Combined with a longer battery life, this works perfectly for taking on long road trips or plane flights. The stylus can work like a mouse on webpages allowing easy browsing of full blown desktop sites. It's also handy to scribble down quick notes while on a phone call.

The Windows Phone 8 Decision

 http://us.cdn4.123rf.com/168nwm/mrincredible/mrincredible1211/mrincredible121100014/16377726-isolated-shot-of-an-htc-microsoft-windows-phone-8-on-white.jpg

Can WP8 really replace an Android or iOS phone? I know the dearth of apps will throw off many, yours truly included, but what are some actual problems with the OS itself?

I'm coming from a power user standpoint, so my gripes may not mesh with everyone elses.  Take note though, that many of the problems will truly annoy someone who expects thing to just work.

One thing I don't make mention of is, if you're in the Google ecosystem and you want to switch to Microsoft's beloved new mobile OS, be prepared to leave your old home behind. Of the third party Google apps you find, none of them will function half as well as they do on all the other OS's. That includes Blackberry 10, which at least uses an Android emulator to get by.

So let's say your fine leaving Google behind and swimming in Redmond's great pond. Read on for the current rules you must abide by.

Blog Name

Welcome to my first Blog.  I'm not sure how many Tech Blogs exists which have a mismash of other topics included, but that's what this is.  The topics will vary and I will try to ramp up posts as I get accustomed to this blogging thing.

Auto topics, you know since I mention it under the blog name, will include performance cars, supercars, sports bikes, autosports (F1, LeMans, Rally, etc...), and of course Car TECH!!!

Woo-hoo...yea I 'm really not that excited, but it is still cool.  Kind of like how people type lol, but in reality they are just sitting there with a very disinterested look on their face. I digress...

The Entertainment topics will include Music (like this Daft Punk & Pharell Song), some Sports (Lebron you the man!), and other boring fascinating topics.  We all love cute furry animals...amirite???

Some posts are opinion pieces, but the main focus is looking at what's hot in the tech world and why we want it. No fanboyism, just a reasonable and possibly quirky take on the things Geeks enjoy, which is more than just gadget.  Since, I'm the only editor, don't be afraid to point out my mistakes, but realize this is a blog not a thesis on The Affects of Utilizing Antimatter as a Source of Renewable Energy.

So why the name??? Well it's a play on the old joke "What's Black & White & Red All Over?"
What's that?...Newspaper you think?...I thought Tiger...Ooo the last color is actually a verb (Read, get it, sounds like red).  Well if the last color was Orange it's obviously a Tiger and since Tigers are cool that's what my Blog is about, sorta. It's Large exciting stuff. I know I'm stretching it, but the colors are associated with specific tags on every post.

Black- Tech, gadgets, and anything electronic (no not cars)
White- Cars, Bikes, Jetskis, Quads, possibly Boats
Orange- Movies, Music, Sports, Popular Topics...everything else

BWHOA

I know this first post was long, but I needed to introduce myself properly.

For the record it's pronounced like whoa. Just add the "B" sound in front.
