Why I Can't Switch to iOS

There are some people that own and love their iPhones and iPads (this I understand, since no other tablet can match the simple experience and vast amount of apps) who just can't figure out why someone would choose a Droid over the elegant and sleek iPhone.

The iPhone has arguably the best hardware (if you disregard the HTC One) , the smoothest homescreen (it's smooth as butter), variety of accessories, longest web browsing battery life, and a bucket load of apps.  Wait...why doesn't everyone have an iPhone again??? Well one problem with iPhones is if you live in Apple's world, you must play by their rules and that limits how you can use your device.

The only way to escape those limitatioms is jumping aboard either of 3 other systems - Android, WP8, or Blackberry OS.  Right now I'll only discuss the Android advantages, since I'm rocking the lovely Samsung Galaxy Note II (the most satisfying phone I've had yet).  Follow on for the breakdown on why I can't switch.  You might learn something!

These are some features of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note II. The Note III will have all these features and more.

1. Replace default apps with 3rd party apps (music player, video player, messaging, maps, etc). This is great for maps because lets say you don't like Google Maps, you can have the Garmin App open up directions by default.

2. Customize the whole look of OS, including keyboard.

3. Download mp3's directly to device and listen to without connecting to a computer.

4. MicroSd slot for storing tons of music for cheaper price than getting a larger capacity phone.

5. Download any app from anywhere with no restrictions. Let me decide what I want to install, just like I do on my computer. Amazon Appstore is worth mentioning, since they give a free app everyday.

6. Large Screen (see Galaxy Mega if you hate having space in your pockets)

7. Stylus use for taking quick notes, activating hovering links or interact with elements that require hovering on websites,  and using as mouse in remote desktop

8. Run Adobe flash without jumping through hoops.

9. Infrared Remote (one reason why I really want the Note III...hey I'm lazy and want the convenience of a remote with me whereever I go)

10. Notification LED (didn't realize how much I missed this from the old flip phones of 'yore)

11. Video Battery Life (the Note II outlast everything on the market except the Godzilla RAZR Maxxxxxxxxxxx HD)

12. No checkerboarding in browser (happens when you're on image intense sites)

13. Automation apps to control certain actions by triggers.  Apps like Tasker can automatically silence your phone when you arrive at work and then load certain settings when you return home.  Combine it with other apps to do things like:

14. Ability to use phone with gloves.

15. Phone screen stays on when it detects face looking at it.

16. No computer needed to do anything at all. For some functions iTunes needs to be installed on a computer to use your iDevice. First sync of Music, videos, photos. Also needed if you need to transfer anything exceeding your cloud limit (large HD video file).

17. Wireless charging (yes it's a hack, but it does exist. I might do this for the Note III if Samsung doesn't release their own wireless kit.)

18. NFC (share stuff by touching phones together. Make Google Wallet payments.)

19. Direct Gaming Controller Input (as long as it's USB)

20. Wireless PS3 input (root is needed)

21. Rooting doesn't break updates. Can still update over the air and retain root functions

22. Connect and access USB HDD

23. Connect USB Keyboard

24. Connect Mouse

25. Flip to Mute (can mute calls or music really easily)

26. Install Windows on it (I would never do it, but its cool that the option exists)

27. Built-in data usage monitor

28. All roots are untethered, meaning once a device is rooted it can power on and off normally.  A tethered Jailbreak requires a connection to the PC on reboot just to power the phone on.  When Apple debuts its latest software, the latest Jailbreak often a tethered.

If you think any of these points are wrong, let me know in the comments and I will update!
